Who is Rom Lawrell?

Rom Lawrell is a Chicago native Los Angeles-based LGBTQ+ artist, singer-songwriter, and content creator. His music is genre-blending of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop. He found his calling in music at a young age, determined to defy his own identity within the up-and-down world of music. Embracing freedom, acceptance of life, love, and the messy reality of growth. Rom’s musical journey is marked by the relentless pursuit and desire to break barriers.

Rom’s new bop “ATTENTION,” is an uptempo blend of house, dance, and sprinkle of amapiano music. He wanted to give his [people] LGBTQ+ community a confidence anthem (influences Beyonce, Missy, Sisqó, and Gaga) heading into the spring/summer. The word play is very sharp, he’s literally spitting and has his own creative aura. This single tells the story of finally taking that step into not boxing in self expression.

Rom went out of the box with the music video – styled in (powerful aesthetic) a red oversized double-breasted big shoulder blazer, jet black (yeezy meet motomami) Y2K wrap-around sunglasses, black leather pants, paired with black leather boots. He even stepped into drag dressed in a leopard print bodysuit with glam by Hershii LiqCour-Jeté from Rupaul Drags Race S14. Such purrfect eccentric vibes for the multidimensional artist that he is!

Rom’s social media presence has gained viral attraction from his humor. His content starts in the gym working out, then he gets distracted by his playlist of music, and starts to dance as if he’s on tour to 2000’s nostalgia hits.

“I came up with this concept of dancing in the gym to music I grew up on that made me want to become an artist and just to have some fun. I add a text over my videos with something like, “What did you work on today in the gym today?” (1.9M views), next thing I know, the internet was eating it up,” he says.
