With years of releases and collaborations behind him, the independent hip hop artist continues expanding his catalog and introducing his sound to new audiences.
New Orleans has produced generations of artists who understand the importance of individuality, storytelling and staying connected to their roots. Smizz is continuing that tradition in his own way, steadily developing a catalog and expanding his presence as an independent hip hop artist.
Smizz’s career reflects consistency rather than an overnight arrival. His current catalog stretches across several years, with releases including Nobody Safe in 2020, Twenty-4 in 2022, The Block in 2023, No
Sunshine and Better in 2024, followed by Forbes list and Everybody Eats in 2025. In February 2026, he returned with his latest single, Dope.
That consistency is helping introduce Smizz to listeners beyond his home city. In June 2026, he was the focus of an episode of Hottest in the Hood, titled “SMIZZ (NEW ORLEANS to PROVIDENCE).” The feature documented another stage in his journey as his name and music continue reaching audiences in different markets.
But Smizz’s connection to the music industry goes back considerably further than his recent releases.
In 2016, Smizz appeared alongside Mal DiBiase on Young Roddy’s “Tale of 3kings,” featured on the album Good Sense 3. The collaboration remains listed among Smizz’s songs on Apple Music a decade later. His catalog also includes additional collaborations with Young Roddy, including “For Them Days,”“Blood”and
“Bag Talk” from the 2018 project Face the World.
Those records add an important layer to Smizz’s story. While newer listeners may be discovering him through his recent music and digital presence, his history shows an artist who has been connected to music for years and is now entering another phase of his career.
Smizz is not starting from scratch. He is building on a foundation that has already been years in the making.
What makes Smizz’s current run interesting is the progression. There has been new solo material released every year since 2022, creating a catalog that allows listeners to hear his development in real time. Rather than relying solely on past collaborations, he has continued putting his own name at the forefront.
His latest record, Dope, represents the newest chapter. Released February 7, 2026, the single follows Everybody Eats and Forbes list, both released in 2025.

For an artist coming from New Orleans, a city whose influence on hip hop is impossible to overlook, carving
out an individual identity is essential. Smizz appears focused on doing exactly that. His story combines

The Hottest in the Hood feature connecting New Orleans and Providence also points toward something larger about his trajectory. His story is no longer confined to one city. As his catalog expands and his
visibility continues to develop, Smizz has an opportunity to introduce himself to an entirely new group of listeners.
After years of recording, collaborations and independent releases, Smizz is not starting from scratch. He is building on a foundation that has already been years in the making.
And with Dope serving as his latest release, 2026 could represent an important next chapter in that journey.
