The Bronx has given music some of its most memorable voices, personalities and innovators. Now, Bronx native Bright Day is looking to add his own chapter to that history with a sound that blends classic R&B showmanship, soulful vocals and contemporary pop appeal.
The singer, songwriter and performer is gearing up for the release of his new single “Brand New,” arriving September 4, 2026. The record serves as an introduction to Bright Day and the larger musical world he is building.
Known for his soulful tenor and emotion-driven songwriting, Bright Day creates from a place of real-life experience. His music touches on love, attraction, pain, personal growth and the emotions that come with navigating life and relationships. His musical influences cross generations and genres, with Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, George Michael, Stevie Wonder and Phil Collins among the artists who helped shape his appreciation for melody, performance and songs with staying power.
For Bright Day, the objective isn’t to duplicate the music of the past. It’s to take the feeling and substance that made those records memorable and bring that same intention into today’s R&B and pop landscape.
Music entered Bright Day’s life early. By age 10, he had already discovered how a song could change the energy in a room. Songwriting actually became part of his journey before he viewed himself as a strong singer, and by 18, he had management and knew that pursuing music was much bigger than a hobby.
The road to this moment hasn’t always been easy.
Born legally blind in one eye, Bright Day also navigated family dysfunction and years of setbacks that ultimately helped shape his perspective. Even his artist name has personal meaning. A play on his given name, Eric Bright, Bright Day represents love, joy and light, along with his belief that something better can follow even the darkest periods.
Veteran entertainment publicist Lynn Hobson believes that combination of life experience and genuine passion for the craft is part of what makes Bright Day an artist worth paying attention to.
“What stood out to me about Bright Day is that there is a real story behind the music,” says Lynn Hobson. “He understands the importance of great songs, presentation and showmanship, but he also brings life experience to what he creates. ‘Brand New’ is a great introduction, but I believe audiences are going to be pleasantly surprised by how much more he has to offer.”
That introduction begins with “Brand New.”
The record came together organically after a melody unexpectedly popped into Bright Day’s head one night. Looking at a nearby box containing a new pair of shoes gave him the inspiration for the song’s concept: taking the feeling of something fresh, clean and flawless and using it to describe a woman.
The result is a smooth, flirtatious and confident record centered around admiration and attraction. “Brand New” celebrates a woman who catches your attention from head to toe and, equally important, the idea of making her feel just as good as she looks.
Produced by Cass Maya and written by Eric Bright, the single was selected to introduce Bright Day because of its accessibility and feel-good energy. It gives listeners a first glimpse of his vocals, personality and approach to songwriting without revealing everything he has waiting in the wings.
The official visual takes the concept a step further, following Bright Day as he shows affection toward his love interest and makes an effort to have her feeling “brand new.” Music, fashion, romance, confidence and personality come together to establish the visual identity surrounding the record.
That attention to presentation is intentional.
Fashion plays an important role in Bright Day’s identity as an artist. He describes his style as confident, open-minded and willing to experiment. Fitness is another important part of his lifestyle, representing the discipline and evolution that he also applies to his career.
His creativity isn’t limited to the recording studio either. Bright Day is a self-published author of Eyes Wide Open, a love story featuring a superhero-inspired theme and a project he considers one of his proudest personal accomplishments.
Still, music remains the priority.
“Brand New” represents the beginning of a larger body of work currently in development, with “Love Will Reign” being considered as a possible follow-up single. Bright Day is also developing a documentary to accompany his music, with the possibility of eventually expanding the project into short-form narrative film.
The stage is another major piece of the equation. Bright Day describes his live performances as fun, fierce, energetic, unexpected and memorable, and he can perform with either performance tracks or live musicians depending on the venue and production. Festivals, showcases, clubs, colleges, tours, opening slots and media performances are all part of the bigger picture as he continues expanding his audience.
For Bright Day, everything circles back to creating music with enough feeling to remain relevant after the moment passes.
His own words may explain his perspective best:
“The dark nights are part of what make a bright day mean something.”
It’s an appropriate statement for an artist whose name, music and journey all point toward the same idea: no matter what happened yesterday, there is always the possibility of a brighter day ahead.
And on September 4, Bright Day plans to make everything feel “Brand New.”
