TheRealSkitso’s newly released single “Mercy,” represents more than another addition to his catalog. Produced by TheRealSkitso himself, the September 2nd release brings together M.O.P., Styles P. and Kokane for a collaboration that reflects the Buffalo producer’s ability to build records around some of hip-hop’s most recognizable voices.

For an artist whose primary lane has always been production, “Mercy” provides another opportunity for TheRealSkitso to demonstrate why the producer’s role remains so important to the culture.

The East Side Buffalo, New York native has been making music since he was 16 years old. His early inspiration came from Gang Starr, whose music helped spark his interest in creating records of his own. That foundation eventually developed into a broader musical approach that TheRealSkitso describes as versatile.

His production philosophy has allowed him to work across regional sounds without becoming trapped by one particular style.

That versatility has already been evident in previous collaborations. “Well Connected,” featuring Kokane and Tha Eastsidaz, connected TheRealSkitso with West Coast veterans and gave listeners a glimpse into his ability to create music that bridges different parts of hip-hop culture. The record was also featured on BET Jams, helping expand his visibility beyond Buffalo.

“Mercy” continues that progression, this time pairing TheRealSkitso’s production with the distinct styles of M.O.P., Styles P. and Kokane. Each artist brings a different history and musical identity to the record, making the collaboration a natural showcase for a producer whose strength is creating space for artists to sound like themselves.

The upcoming single also arrives as TheRealSkitso continues preparing his larger body of work. “Asylum Vol. 1” is expected to feature a deep roster of talent, including Phat Kat, Guilty Simpson, Pete Rock and 38 Spesh.

That lineup says plenty about the kind of company TheRealSkitso wants to keep.

His journey is rooted in Buffalo, but his ambitions clearly extend far beyond the city. The producer has spent years developing relationships, sharpening his craft and creating records that connect artists from different corners of the culture.

Now “Mercy” puts that work back in the spotlight.

With this heavyweight lineup, the record could become another important step in TheRealSkitso’s evolution from a Buffalo-based producer with a passion for hip-hop into a creative force building records on his own terms.
