Utah hip-hop/R&B artist Cuddy J Rome is entering a new chapter with his latest album, Call of Currency – Stack Ops, released October 15, 2026. Originally from Ogden, Utah, where his musical journey began, Cuddy J Rome represents a broader Utah music movement—one that connects Salt Lake City, Ogden, and communities throughout the state with the influential culture of the Bay Area and Northern California.
That connection goes back decades. Dating back to 2000, when legendary Bay Area rapper Mac Dre brought his music and influence to Utah, West Coast artists helped introduce local audiences and aspiring artists to the sound, independent mindset, and industry knowledge that shaped an era. From Ogden to Salt Lake City and beyond, artists traveling through Utah helped strengthen the connection between the state’s developing hip-hop scene and the Bay Area culture that influenced so many artists coming up. The game shared through that era continues to be part of Utah’s musical identity today.
Cuddy J Rome also recognizes the OGs in the rap game whose contributions, influence, and presence helped shape the culture he came up around. Their music, experience, and willingness to share knowledge helped create pathways for artists to learn, grow, and build meaningful connections within the industry. Acknowledging those who came before him is an important part of his story—not only because their influence helped shape his musical perspective, but because understanding the culture means respecting the people who helped build it. For Cuddy J Rome, being tapped in is about more than having names in his network; it represents years of dedication, relationships, respect, and a genuine connection to the music and its history.
That cultural foundation has developed alongside years of work, networking, and collaborations with respected names from the West Coast, including Jay Tee of N2Deep, Mistah F.A.B., Levitti, Stevie Joe, Matt Blaque, Derek King, J Diggs, Laroo aka Hitta Slim, Remedy, Marty Obey, Russ Coson, RNB Base, FlyGuyVeezy, Phat Blacc, and more. These connections reflect a career built through consistency, dedication, and commitment to the independent music grind. His journey shows how an artist can begin in one hometown while representing a much wider region and building relationships throughout a larger music community.
