Super Bowl XLII was undoubtedly a memorable game, with the New York Giants inching out the New England Patriots in the final quarter of the game for a 17-14 victory. I enjoyed watching the boring but rather slow first half. I didn’t quite care for the commercials at all this year. I think the commercial hype is overrated now. Its like we expect comedy or commercials that will have us amazed. Like I was telling my girl, every company who aired a commercial probably had 10 or so commercials made and the CEO of the company picked the lammiest one that he liked and we seen tonight. When the intern had the best low budget commercial with fresh ideas. They should have a site with the commercials that didnt make the website because I know there are some funny ones that didnt make the cut.
Another thing, did you notice the Obama commercial during the Super bowl? How do you go on to afford a 2.7million dollar commercial spot. Wait, its 2.7 million for a 30 second ad, I forget how long his ad was but when you talk about campaign bucks, Obama has a lot. What was that Jim Jones song from a year ago “Ballin”. Since we are talking about Obama, I was watching one of those political shows this Sunday morning and they were talking about, had Obama lose the Democratic Primary to Clinton, that she might ask him to go on her Presidential ticket as Vice President. But he wouldn’t ask her if he was to win the primary. Can you imagine, a female President, with a black male as Vice President?
Many viewers admittedly watch the most televised event of the year for its fanfare – musical performances and commercials. This year featured Hip Hop commercials including the music of Salt N’ Peppa (with a dancing ” Donkey Lips ” of Salute Your Shorts fame), as well as a commercial from Pepsi MAX featuring Missy Elliott , Busta Rhymes and LL Cool J (who was in Arizona at the game).
Other highlights included a T-Mobile effort with Charles Barkley and Dwayne Wade , playing a one-sided relationship with unlimited talk time, a strip-teasing racecar driver Danica Patrick for GoDaddy.com and a compelling rags to riches story, with a punchline from the end by the Houston Texans for the NFL .
For those looking to relive the commercials, good, bad, racy and dull, Spike TV has them available for viewing comment [http://www.spike.com/superbowl].
