The saga may have concluded but Harry Potter went out with a bang and bigger buyout than any other movie before him. The previously weekend record holder, 2007′s The Dark Knight, raked in $158.4 million but Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 has convincingly knocked it out of the box with a weekend tally of $168.6 million, making for a grand total of $476 million since its launch on July 13 in some countries.
That sure is a lot of Galleons. Even though you can factor in higher ticket sales from IMAX and 3-D showings as a booster, it wouldn’t be wise to underestimate the power of a wizard’s wand. Lord Voldermort even has 1.3 million followers on Twitter!
