There comes a time in every person’s career where they either decide to make a career change or simply call it quits and retire. Well that’s what logical people do. For this list of people I’ll be discussing today, they are a special type of idiot unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
“Rappers That Don’t Rap!”
The closet thing I could liken to this would be a trickless magician (Chris Rock Flow) or comedians that don’t tell jokes. When its perceived that you are talented at something and people hold you to a certain esteem, why would you want to turn your back on the very people who made you rich and famous to begin with? That’s a question I don’t have an answer to but below you will find what I consider to be the 2 most egregious cases of “Rappers That Don’t Rap!”
“Pusha T, Pusha Ton, pusha ton of that shit that make ya nose run” Fuck Up Homeboy! Of these two jerks I probably have the biggest bone to pick with the youngest Thornton brother. How is it that someone can consistently claim to be “The Best” when they have no stats to back up their claim? In a career that dates back to 1998 (They were signed to Elektra) this muthafucka has released a total of 3 group albums and 4 mixtapes (Ed. Note: as of repost date, Pusha released the well-received Fear of God mixtape)! Only one of which went platinum. The other 2 didn’t even scratch gold. That’s a one hot album every 4 year average and that’s so…
Now he’s signed to GOOD Music and for some reason people all over the world thought he’d actually start rapping again! NAH! This old fuck told the world “Sept 14 I’m gonna put the Fear of God in these rappers.” Guess what tho, on Sept 9th he said it’s gettin pushed back. Looky looky, well aint that some Funeral Fab bullshit! Pushin back a mixtape? Forreal tho! Do u really need a ramp up period to get people excited for FREE fuckin music? I thought free was everybody’s price! Either put the fuckin mixtape out on 9/14 or keep the shit in ya car. People either care or they don’t and pushing back a mixtape only pisses people off and makes u out to be a dickhead! The GOOD news is that since he’s signed with KanYe he dropped 2 verses in the last week which is more than he’s done in the last 2 years! There is hope!

6 years later and is this the same guy who had Jay-Z on his 1st album, rapped on “Touch The Sky” with Air Yeezy? WTF happened to u dude? U didn’t even get rich and quit cuz u don’t sell records! U don’t even record sellable music! Lasers has allegedly been done for 2.5 yrs but Atlantic won’t release it because its some new form of bullshit that nobody will buy. I’m talkin every Jim Jones song except “Ballin” BAD!
I think u need to give Atlantic records 1/3 of their money back…a big head nigga couldn’t even imagine how bad you’d dick them over! 6 years, two albums, none platinum, one meaningful feature to date! This muthafucka is so anti-establishment that producers have begun to take songs from him. Little known fact “Beautiful Girls”, #1 hit by B.O.B. was Lupe’s first…Jim Jonsin and Bruno Mars took it from him after he held onto it for close to a year. Additionally, another B.O.B. smash hit “Airplanes” with Haley Williams ALSO belong to Wasulu!
Earth to Lupe, what the fuck are you doing to your career! U were supposed to be the next NaS homie. Instead you’re the guy who gets mad at fans because your music leaks…HELLO this is what happens in the post-Napster music world my man. Do like Lil Wayne does and RECORD MORE MUSIC! After the last “MTV Hottest MC’s List” came out Lupe said he was definitely gonna make the next list and he was about to set the world on fire! Since then he dropped one 10 song – 30 minute mixtape and “I’m Beamin” which Atlantic had to strong arm him into putting out. I say Lupe packs all his little tapes in his back-pack and kick pushes the fuck outta here! You’re a sad story holmes and only u can fix yourself. (Ed. note: Lupe finally released his 3rd album Lasers on March 1, 2011 and it debuted #1 overall with 220K copies sold 1st week. Maybe my blog helped! But probably not!)
