Kyle Lowry 2nd Annual Community Day

August 14, 2014 0

On Saturday, August 16th the Lowry Love Foundation will be hosting the “Kyle Lowry Community Day”.  The Lowry Love Foundation is a 501c3 organization founded in 2013 by Kyle Lowry, a North Philadelphia native now playing for the Toronto Raptors, and wife Ayahna Cornish-Lowry.  The mission of the foundation is simply helping those in need in Philadelphia through various programs and events.
The community day will consist of three events running from 9-4:30pm: (9am-1) a free basketball clinic for youth ages 8-13, (1- 4pm) a community barbecue complete with food and activities for the kids, and capping off with (4:30pm) the “Kyle Lowry Rising Stars Challenge” high school exhibition game, which gives the community an opportunity to see the city’s current ballers exhibiting their talents.
The purpose of the event is to show appreciate and support to the neighborhood and recreation center that watched Kyle grow into the player that he is today.  With the support of his family and those working hard for our youth at the center, Kyle was able to achieve goals that many in the community may see as unattainable.  Through this event Kyle will be back in his old neighborhood showing that anything is possible.
