If folks think Chris Rivers is using his Father, Big Pun’s, legacy to sustain his buzz, they’re sadly mistaken. The New York emcee does indeed remind you of Pun at times as far as voice inflection is concerned, but make no mistake that the kid is out here doing his own thing.
He recently came off of his ongoing Freestyle Friday series where he would drop new bars over a familiar beat on some weeks, & dish out that original on others. The series is said to continue after a bit of a brief intermission, but in the meantime, Rivers has a full-body collective for the streets of the underground to get hip to. Today he drops off a new mixtape, Medicated Consumption, with features from fellows like Bodega Bamz, Sheek Louch, Nitty Scott, Cory Gunz, Uncle Murda & more. Who said NYC ain’t got love for each other?
