My real question is why do people wait years later to speak up about things that they could have brought to life during its relevancy? I guess HOV was right, its politics as usual..

Earlier this week, famed performance artist Marina Abramovic went on record to accuse Jay-Z of “using her” to help with his Picasso Baby video that was released in 2013. In an interview with Spike Art, Abramovic claims that the original deal was for him to donate to her organization, The Marina Abramovic Institute, in exchange for her assistance with the overall creative direction of the video that was an interpretation of one of her performance art pieces, “The Artist Is Present” .

Today, MAI issued a public apology to Jay-Z because they say he did indeed donate to their organization. After Abramovic’s comments went public, the director of Picasso Baby, Jeanne Greenberg, went to Artnet News & showed proof of his donation with the receipt that read  W984804 & said “thank you for your donation”.

Abramovic has not apologized personally, but her institute stepped in to do so:

We are sincerely sorry to both Marina Abramovic and Shawn “JAY Z” Carter for this, and since then we have taken to appropriate actions to reconcile this matter.

Numbers don’t lie folks..
