Uh oh! Looks like Roc Nation is in the hot seat for illegally streaming Prince’s “Purple One” on TIDAL. While Prince and Jay’s Roc Nation did have a deal set in place, it was only supposed to cover streaming for Prince’s final album, “HITnRUN Phase One.” Nothing else! But starting back on June 7th, “nearly all of Prince’s catalog” was available on TIDAL. Prince’s NPG Records confirmed that this was an unauthorized move. So now, NPG is suing Roc Nation for copyright infringement – seeking unspecified damages for the streaming of “Purple Rain,” “Little Red Corvette,” and more.

It’s unclear as to why Jay Z would even boast about this in his music, but he did so on Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up Remix.”

“Prince left his masters where they safe and sound. We never gon let the elevator take us down.”
