1. Kanye
2. Jay-Z
3. Weezy
4. Rick Ross
5. Snoop Dogg
6. 50 Cent
7. Lupe Fiasco
8. Young Jeezy
9. Andre 3000
10. T.I.
The top three I have no problem with. I feel Kanye held down this year with the Graduation album hype and the glow in the dark tour. Then you have Jay-Z American Gangster concept album that was a classic. And at third you have Lil Wayne who hasn’t dropped a cd but still made his name relevant this year with mixtapes and freestyles over everyones beats,
I’m a big Rick Ross fan and I don’t have a problem with him being number 4 because Trilla was a classic album. If you don’t have it already then go get it. Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent give me a few question marks because it seems as if they put there names on the list because they have experience in the game. Snoop cd flopped and he didn’t have a second single that catch our attention. 50 cent have I get money and a cd that flopped.
Then you have Lupe and Jeezy who I have no problem with only if they were above Snoop and 50.
Andre 3000? It seems like every time you mention his name people give you the “he nice as shit”. I’m still stuck on the he hasn’t dropped a mixtape or album since his Idlewild soundtrack and his cartoon soundtrack. But was his verse from UGK International Players Anthem and Lloyd’s cd that good if he is still talked about in 2008 and both singles dropped in 2006-2007ish.
Why is T.I. number 10 when you have Snoop and 50 Cent and Andre 3000 on the list. Not to discredit them but Big Shit Poppin was a bigger hit then Sensual Seduction and any verse Andre 300 put out and maybe on the same level as I get money.
Who should have made the list?
Fabolous, I mean why not he is one of the most relevant rappers out nowadays. Even though his last cd wasn’t the best cd in the whole wide world, Fab continues to keep himself amongst the elite. Whenever he drops a mixtape its crazy and he caters to the hood even though he albums don’t.
Soulja Boy, I mean hate on him if you want but his cd was ok and he will always be remembered as the 16 year old who made one of the biggiest songs of the year from his Sidekick 3 and had the biggiest dance of the year. I mean as far as video plays on the mainstream tv, youtube views, ringtones sold, kids doing his dance, Soulja Boy has touched alot of people this year. Not a MC but everyone knows his name no matter what neighborhood your in.
Game, I know his cd didn’t drop in this time period but he has to be in a top 10 list. He has helped put the West Coast on the map once again. One Blood was roughly two summers ago but it was a car banger when it did drop. And now he has Dreams and the Pain singles doing good on the airwaves.
Ludacris dropped money maker which was a great single and you will never waste money on a Ludacris cd because he always has those 2 or 3 hits on the cd that he never made a video for.
