The least-expensive Maserati will run you six figures. At least, right now it will. In a few years, you may have a cheaper option. Like, say, only $68k.
Media reports today suggest the Italian exotic car builder is moving down-market. It plans to enter the hyper-competitive four-door midsize sport sedan market with a rival to the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Jaguar XJ.
A baby Maserati would reportedly still compete at the top of that segment, with a V8, sport handling setup and a more curvaceous look than the Germans because, well, it’s Italian.
We just hope it would sound right. Fine leather and Italian curves aside, the best thing about a Maserati has always been its exhaust note. They can play with the brand all they want, as long you can still hear it coming, we won’t complain.
