Apple has just released Find My Friends (Free, App Store Link) – a new iCloud-based iOS app that lets you locate your friends on a map, as well as share your location with them. The new service is integrated with Contacts and Maps, making it easy to find the best route to a certain place (or person).
For those concerned about privacy, Find My Friends has excellent privacy settings, such as temporary sharing that lets you share your location for a limited amount of time (hours, days, or weeks). Location sharing can also be turned on and off at will, and can be enabled or blocked for certain contacts.
You can install Find My Friends by visiting iCloud.com on an iOS device, or you can download it directly from the App Store here (Free, App Store Link). Do note, however, that Find My Friends requires iOS 5 to run, so unless you have the GM that apple released to developers, you’ll have to wait until Apple releases iOS 5 to the masses.
