A crime wave over the weekend hit Philadelphia, as 22 people were shot in 9 incidents with 5 deaths.
“It’s been a very bad weekend,” said Philadelphia police commissioner Charles Ramsey.
The crime wave happened just days before the biggest tourist weekend of the year in Philadelphia.
One shooting was at a bar, while another was at a party with 200 people in a Fairmount Park rec center.
Fox 29’s Steve Keeley was at police headquarters on Monday, where investigators were searching for answers.
In the rec center incident, officials said one man was killed and three girls were wounded in a shooting at a party in Fairmount Park.
Authorities say the shooting happened at about 10 p.m. Sunday in the area around 33rd and Diamond streets. The man, in his 20s, was struck six times, including once in the forehead. He was taken to Temple University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The girls, ages 6, 10 and 15, were in stable condition. Police said the 15-year-old was taken to St. Christopher Hospital for Children with a bullet wound in the leg. The younger two both suffered facial injuries and were taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
