“Bamboo”, Born Hasan Brown, is a Philadelphia born artist that fits several genres. Born to Kimberly Brown and Lawrence Steele, bamboo was the youngest of 3 children and the only boy. Growing up he lived with only his mother and learned to be the man of the house. Living in the heart of a violent West Philadelphia, Hasan had to find other alternatives and pass times that wouldn’t put him in harm’s way. One day, joking with his family; he stumbled across a voice that caught the attention of aspiring artist in the area.
After finding his singing ability at age 15, the West Philadelphian began laying harmonies over melodies. With the singing and song writing coaching provided Asia (Kindred Family Soul), Bamboo was on his way to conquering the intangibles. Once these tools were garnered, Bamboo began to experiment with all types of music to find out what style he was best suited for. He began to rap, all while fine tuning his craft of singing. He began to draw from artist that spanned from John Legend, to Andre 3000 and Jay Z. Currently the Overbrook H.S graduate is the flagship artist under Prototype Entertainment Company, a Philadelphia based record label. He is gearing up for his debut, set for March 2012 with already released single “Good Vibrations” and “Way it Goes”. He aspires to create his own style and lane in music and wants to always promote and support Philadelphia.
