While it was exclusive to see a checkmark next to the Twitter account of a public personality, but now Facebook is luring celebrities to their site by offering the coveted verified account.
Yesterday, the site began letting people with a large number of subscribers to show their government IDs to prove their actual identification. This way, Onika Tanya Maraj can be Nicki Minaj, Tauheed Epps can be 2 Chainz, and Teyana Taylor could get tagged in her leaked nude photos. Unlike Twitter, Facebook encourages site users to register using their real names. Now your favorite MCs and celebrities who have been verified on Facebook will get more display on Facebook’s “People To Subscribe To” list.
