FAMU President James Ammons Highlights Negative Media
Florida A&M University has always been known as one of the best college bands in the country, even the world. For FAMU president, James Ammons, tragedy struck the world of Historically Black Colleges and Universities when 26-year-old drum major Robert Champion died after being hazed on a band bus after a rival football game. Five months later, Champion’s parents have been throwing financial lawsuits in every direction. The University has recently been added to the list and for FAMU president James Ammons it was too much.
Wednesday, FAMU president James Ammons, put in his letter of resignation, which will not take effect until October 11, 2012. The wrongful death lawsuit that Champions parents have slid to the University was one of the main reasons of the resignation. The pressure to hold the University together regarding such an iconic piece of the school history must be immense.
