In the MEAC Baseball Championship Tournament, the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks were set to play Bethune-Cookman in order to proceed to the next level. Unfortunately, UMES was defeated by Bethune-Cookman, 3-0. The Hawks finish with a 14-38 record on the season; while Bethune-Cookman went on to win the MEAC tournament. Their season ended abruptly when the Bethune-Cookman lost to Florida in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Tre-von Johnson, a junior center fielder, is from East New Market, Md. Hoping to receive a degree in exercise science, Tre-von Johnson looks to continue contributing as much on the field as he does to his schoolwork. Johnson finished the season with a .318 batting average and led the teams in runs and hits. He also had an amazing field percentage of 1.000. Sports Cipher caught up with Tre-von Johnson to talk about his season recap and what’s next for him.
