When the idea originally started floating around an array of mixed emotions came about. Hardcore weezy fans (Dedication 2 and prior) who felt like he no longer represented their struggle or lyrical excellence in general wrote it off as another mix-tape from the martian, while new fans and hipsters alike leaped for joy at the thought of him releasing another street effort; specifically another Dedication. Personally I was on the fence, reminiscing on high-school conversations about why he without a question was the best rapper alive and why Jay Z was now simply irrelevant.
While the tables have clearly turned since then, I still secretly yearned for one more project from Baby D that would showcase to the younger and older generations why for a moment in time Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. was hip-hop culture.
