Big 12 Football Media is Ready To Watch the 2013-2014 Season

Football is officially here now that preseason all-conference teams are being announced.

Big 12 Conference football media chose their 2013 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team on Wednesday morning. The media also chose their Offense Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year.

The Offensive POY selected is junior RB Lache Seastrunk from Baylor. The Defensive POY selected is sophomore DE Devonte Fields from TCU. The Newcomer of the Year selected is red-shirt senior RB Charles Sims from West Virginia.

Lache Seastrunk totaled 1,012 yards and seven touchdowns to win Holiday Bowl Offensive MVP and Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year. He’s on a hot four-game streak of 100-yard rushing games. Hopefully, his ego wont’ ruin his streak at the start of the 2013 season.

Devonte Fields is one of the best defensive underclassmen in the country. He ties 20th in sacks, recording an even 10.0, with three other seniors! Imagine what he can do at the end of his junior year! He’s a big guy standing at 6-foot-4. His size is probably one of the reasons why he was able to record 53 tackles, including 34 solo drops, and 18.5 tackles for a loss. He was name to numerous 2012 freshman All-America teams.

Charles Sims, has an interesting story being a transfer student. Sims transferred in from Houston and will be playing as a first year grad student for the Mountaineers. Last season, Sims posted 851 yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, and three receiving touchdowns. He’s been on a decline since 2011. He was all-conference first team then and dropped to all-conference second team in 2012. Can he live up to this newcomer title?

Here’s a list of all position from offense to defense:
