“The Book Of Negroes” is a forthcoming miniseries being presented by BET. The six episode project is based on the Lawrence Hill novel of the same name and focuses on Aminata Diallo. Diallo, played by Aunjanue Ellis, was an African woman who was kidnapped in West Africa and sold into slavery in South Carolina. Originally the film was going to be a feature length documentary but director Clement Virgo doubted his audience would be strong enough to handle it. Cuba Gooding Jr., Jane Alexander, Louis Gossett, Jr. also star in the film. “The Book of Negroes” is scheduled to air in February. Watch the trailer below.
