Mark Ryden created this video for Tyler the Creators‘s contribution to his concept album “The Gay Nineties – Olde Tyme Music”.
This album is comprised of an array of musicians and artists performing their interpretation of the 1892 song “Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two).” It is a part of Ryden’s art exhibition “The Gay Nineties West” which opened at Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles, CA on May 3, 2014. All profits from this record are being donated to “Little Kids Rock,” a nonprofit that revitalizes music education in disadvantaged schools.
Tyler on the song:
“I WAS 15 AND BLOWN AWAY BY MARK RYDENS ART WORK, IT WAS LIKE THE SHIT THAT REALLLLLLY CONNECTED WITH ME ALL THE BRIGHT COLORS BUT FUCKED UP SHIT, BUT I ALWAYS SAID ONE DAY I’LL GET THIS DUDE TO DRAW ME AND HE DID LAST YEAR ( WOLF ALBUM COVER) AND IN EXCHANGE HE ASKED IF I DID A SONG FOR AN UPCOMING ART SHOW HE HAS ENTILED ‘THE GAY 90S’.
