The new deal with BMI is for representation of public performances on her behalf. Jhené Aiko already has a record deal with Def Jam and is slated to drop her Souled Out album later this year. Her current single “The Worst” has hit number one on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/ Hip Hop charts. The singer has three nominations at the June 29th 2014 BET Awards.
“Jhené Aiko has brought a new and fresh sound to music,” said Catherine Brewton, BMI VP of writer/publisher relations, in a statement. “Her smooth voice and compelling lyrics are the perfect combination to fill a void in popular music.”
