The summer, the Atlanta Hawks franchised was rocked when majority owner Bruce Levenson put the franchise up for sale admist a scandal that involved Levenson and Hawks GM Danny Ferry and racially-charged audio tapes speaking about free-agents.
Since the tape shit the net, Ferry has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the team, and the likes of Dominique Wilkins have showed interest in purchasing the team.
Add one more name to the possible list of buyers.
Yahoo! Sports reported yesterday that Webber would be part of a group that hopes to purchase the Atlanta Hawks.
Webber would have a modest financial investment in the partnership, but is expected to emerge as a face of the bid with an ultimate goal of becoming a prominent figure on the basketball side for the Hawks, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The primary investors are expected to become public in the near future, sources said. Several prominent groups with interest in buying the Hawks are also expected to become known soon.
