Seriously though, why is it now 5 year later & it’s still Drake’s name that’s ringing all the bells throughout the culture? Why hasn’t anyone stepped up to take the crown? Sure, we have Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole who are just about the only artists’ who could even be placed in conversation with the likes of Drizzy, but these cats are in a lane of their own.
Drake is an artist that never ceases to amaze when he drops records. You expect everything coming from the OVO forerunner to break the internet, & every time, it does just that. With If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late topping nearly all charts across the board upon its debut, & its impact still incredibly everlasting, any other new music that is released by the kid is nothing short of a special treat to keep you wanting more. IYRTITL still is the topic of conversation–I don’t hear talks of Kendrick Lamar’s Too Pimp A Butterfly nearly as much these days–but fans are still wanting to know when can we expect his upcoming LP, Views From The 6 to breakthrough.
Days before gracing the stage of the 2015 Coachella Festival, Drake spent time with Four Pins & touched a lot upon his upcoming album. Through their exclusive, we learn that Drizzy is stuck on two records that will be on the album, & one of them has a feature from Beyoncé.
The topic of our talk switches to Drake’s upcoming fourth album. He only has two songs finished that he likes. One is a collaboration with Beyoncé that he recorded a while ago. The other is a song that he expects to inspire a paradigm shift. His days of releasing lay-up bangers that everyone loves right away are over. For now, at least.
Views From The 6 needs to shock listeners just as much as it needs to impress them. I compare it to what Kanye did on his own fourth album, 808s & Heartbreak. Drake agrees, and as if to reinforce that notion, he tells me that that Boi-1da said he needs to listen to the non-Beyoncé song a few more times before he can decide whether it’s good or not. It appears that Drake is ready to deviate from his winning formula and get a little weird
We heard our first “Drayoncé” collab on her self-titled 2013 release, & prior to that, Drake composed a record entitled Girls Love Beyoncé, showing a lot of love to Mrs. Carter. This collaboration will undoubtedly be something major, just based off of their names alone. We can only eagerly anticipate even more as to what Drizzy really has up his sleeves on this LP. Stay tuned.
