Prior to the recent & spontaneous release of his latest album Black Messiah we hadn’t heard from VA’s neo-soul singing sensation D’Angelo in over 14 years. Be that as it may, Black Messiah has given us the sudden reminder that this man has still got it, all the same, at that.
D’Angelo is next up to grace the SNL stage next weekend. The Roots can take a rest this go round, D’Angelo’s band The Vanguard will back him up as he serenades the SNL crowd come January 31st. Saurday Night Live made the announcement via twitter earlier today. J.K. Simmons will host D’Angelo’s first public appearance since the release of his album.
Before kicking off his “Second Coming Tour” in the spring, D’Angelo will come out of hiding yet again February 7th for his performance at the Apollo Theatre. Mark your calandars!
