NBA star, Toronto Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll and family have announced the launch of their new non-profit organization, the Carroll Family Foundation for pediatric liver disease. As a survivor and advocate of liver disease himself, DeMarre finds this cause near and dear to his life, and has launched the Carroll Family Foundation to provide resources and be a mentor for youth dealing with similar diseases by showing them we believe in them and their future. The Carroll Family Foundation will focus on educating and raising funds towards developing enhanced preventives, diagnostic services and treatments for adolescents suffering from pediatric liver disease or disorders.

The Carroll Family Foundation lives by the motto – ‘We Believe’; informing our youth that ‘we’ believe in your future to live a fulfilling, sustainable life with liver disease or disorder. The Carroll Family Foundation will have various family support programs including Life Assistance Program. This program offers financial assistance towards outside costs related to transplants, such as: rent assistance, utility bills, groceries, travel and lodging, and more. the Carroll Family Foundation understand the hardships families face while dealing with a loved one in transplant stage, and in efforts to bring ease to the families, outside of medical assistance, they will focus most fundraising efforts toward this program.

“I am blessed to be in a position where I can not only share my story, but also financially assist and use my professional athlete platform to bring awareness to this cause (liver disease). As someone who is dealing with this disease every day, it’s important that I do all I can to help our youth and their families get through these tough times, and be living proof that there is always light at the end of the tunnel,” DeMarre Carroll States.
