If we don’t remember our lost lives who will? Hip-hop has been at the forefront of black history since it’s birth but somehow, that is lost in much of society today. In a time where we focus on 15 seconds video and 140 characters it is important that we do not forget the true meaning of hip-hop and why it was created.
As we stand on the fifth day of what is known in America as black history month, I felt that it is important that we remember the life of a young man named Trayvon Martin who was tragically killed in 2012. Let’s not mourn the tragedy of his death but remember just how precious life is and why we should treasure the little things in life just as much as the big ones.
Today is Trayvon Martin’s 20th birthday and although he is not here to celebrate with his lived ones, celebrate his life today by taking a moment to show love to someone you love.
