A lawsuit was filed two years ago against Usher and his protege, Justin Bieber, for copyright infringement. Today, it was learned that the case is moving forward. So what does this mean for the two pop artists? Usher and Justin Bieber will face a $10 million law suit. And for what, you may ask again? Allegedly, the two artists “lifted portions of a pair of Virginia songwriters’ music without permission” – used on the song, “Somebody To Love.”
After listening to the Copeland song and the Bieber/Usher song as wholes, we conclude that their choruses are similar enough and also significant enough that a reasonable jury could find the songs intrinsically similar.
More details to come soon as the case unravels.
