According to Sports Illustrated,
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade and the Lakers have mutual interest in bringing the 11-time All-Star to Los Angeles, sources tell SI.com’s Chris Mannix.
Wade, who has the right to opt out of his current deal with the Heat, is reportedly open to leaving Miami if the two sides can’t agree on a new contract. He is due to make $16.1 million next season if he exercises his option.
The Heat are closer to winning a championship than the Lakers are, Mannix points out, but the Lakers have plenty of cap space.
Rumors that Wade could leave the Heat have swirled in recent weeks. While working as an analyst for ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals, Wade referred to his time in Miami in the past tense. Wade’s father was seen Sunday wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers shirt, leading to speculation Wade could be reuniting with LeBron James.
