Oct 27th is right around the corner and true Hawks fans can’t wait. As we approach October and training camp and preseason for the 2015-16 NBA season, the Hawks has unveiled their 2015 training camp roster.
The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club has signed center Earl Barron, forward DeQuan Jones (duh-QUAN) and guard Edgar Sosa it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations/Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
An eight-year NBA veteran, Barron played in 16 games (one start) for the Phoenix Suns last season and has seen action in 140 career contests (31 starts) for Miami, New York, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Portland, Golden State and Washington. He has also played professionally in Italy and in 147 career contests in the NBA Development League. The 7-0 center was a four-year letterman at Memphis (1999-03). He will wear No. 30.
Jones saw action in 63 games, including 17 starting assignments, for the Orlando Magic in 2012-13. The 6-8 forward played for Reno in the NBA Development League in 2013-14, recording 13.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 29.9 minutes (.511 FG%, .406 3FG%, .706 FT%), appearing in 49 games (38 starts). He played last season in Italy for Pallacanestro Cantù. Jones attended Wheeler High School in Marietta prior to a four-year career (2008-12) at the University of Miami (Fla.). He will wear No. 16.
Sosa has played professionally in Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Germany since finishing his collegiate career at the University of Louisville. The 6-2 guard is also a member of the Dominican Republic’s National Team coached by Hawks Assistant Coach Kenny Atkinson. A four-year letterman at Louisville (2006-10), Sosa helped the Cardinals to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 assists and 2.1 rebounds as a senior. Sosa will wear No. 6.
