Upon the release of his debut album, B4.DA.$$, which just dropped today, Joey Bada$$ visited Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 to chop it up about a few things. Being that Rosenberg has been following Bada$$’s career from the start, their conversation was very casual & easy. They touched a lot on Bada$$’s come up, particularly around the days of his mixtape 1999 which kind of set the standard as to what Joey Bada$$ is like, musically. They also talked about his debut album, what producers caught placement, & some of the collaborations he wish could have made the project. Joey made one thing clear that was very commendable, don’t have expectations, especially within music because it defeats the purpose of creativity. Even though he’s a New York rapper, he doesn’t go into the studio with intentions of his music to stick to the “New York sound”, he expresses himself through HIS art HIS way.
Towards the end of the interview at the 10 minute mark, Joey kicked a freestyle for us. You’ll want to check that joint out.
