While all of hip-hop seems to cast Iggy Azalea out of their favorable conversations & frown upon her position as a female emcee, giving Nicki Minaj all praises as the “savior of female emcee’ing,” MC Lyte comes with a more dignified & unswayed opinion.
Being a female rapper/actress who’s sustained her position within the culture for over 20 years, her opinion is as good as gold. As far is Iggy is concerned, Lyte believes that she genuinely adores this culture. Just because she can’t necessarily tell the same stories that are naturally the epitome of hip-hop, doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the right to create her own. When asked about Nicki, she said that she respects her business. Camps that have had the opportunity to push their female rappers into the limelight have abandoned them to work with Nicki & her team certainly holds her down.
Can we expect a Nicki Minaj/MC Lyte collaboration in the future? According to Lyte, if that were to ever be possible, the content of their record would have to be discussed (haha).
