On Wednesday February 8th, the (31-22) Atlanta Hawks rebounded after losing on Monday (120-95) to the Utah Jazz as they defeated the (23-29) Denver Nuggets (117-106) in Philips Arena.
The Atlanta Hawks led this matchup from the jump and they seemed to play with a great deal of intensity early. The Hawks put up 72 points in the first half of the game and never looked back. The leading scorer for the Atlanta Hawks was point guard Dennis Schroder who dropped 24 points and 10 assist. Atlanta Hawks all-star Paul Millsap made his presence felt in this matchup as he dropped 23 points with 11 rebounds. Rookie DeAndre Bembry has performed well in his time on the court filling in for the injured Thabo Sefolosha. In 17 minutes of action, Bembry dropped 10 points and was very effective on the defensive side of the ball.
For the Denver Nuggets, the leading scorer of the night was forward Wilson Chandler who dropped 24 points on (9-17) shooting. Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic continues to be impressive this season. Jokic held his own competing against Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Both teams are hitting the road for their next matchups. The Atlanta Hawks will begin a three game road trip on Friday night in Sacramento against the Sacramento Kings.
