The Divisional round of the 2017 NFL postseason wraps up tonight in Kansas City in what could be a AFC thriller. The (11-5) Pittsburgh Steelers march into town to face the (12-4) Kansas City Chiefs. This is a rematch of a week 4 battle where the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs (43-14). This game was pushed back to a late 8pm Sunday night matchup due to weather issues that could play a major role in the outcome of today’s game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL and they are looking to carry that momentum into today’s game. Pittsburgh has won 8 straight games including a wild card win last weekend against the Miami Dolphins. Look for Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell to have a career day on the ground tonight. Snow and freezing rain will force the Steelers to rely on rushing attack. Le’Veon Bell will rush for over 180 yards and 3 touchdowns. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will keep the Chiefs defense honest will the play action and pass for over 200 yards and 1 touchdown. The Steelers defense has been one of the best over the past 8 weeks and that will continue tonight.
Quietly, the Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the NFL’s most complete teams all season long. The Chiefs offense and special teams can produce points at a rapid pace but tonight’s weather may make the Chiefs offense one dimensional. The Chiefs are (23-5) in their last 28 games and their head coach Andy Reid is (19-3) in his career after his teams have a bye week. The Chiefs may need all those factors to help them get a victory tonight.
Look for the Chiefs to also keep the ball on the ground tonight. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is mobile so the zone read option could be effective tonight. Look for the Chiefs rushing unit to collectively rush for over 150 yards and two touchdowns. The Chiefs special teams will also record a late touchdown tonight to keep the game interesting, but I like the road team in this one. Stay tuned to HHS1987.
