And they said TIDAL was going to fail.

When Jay Z first acquired the music streaming service (which is now known as TIDAL) back in 2015 from Aspiro, many skeptics prayed and prayed for it’s downfall. Mostly because they thought the market was already flooded with music streaming services and that TIDAL would fall to loyal subscribers of Spotify or iPhone owners who would find it easier to use Apple Music. Fast forward two years and TIDAL is now one of the biggest services with Sprint announcing today that it has to bought 33% of it’s stock

The U.S. wireless carrier is currently making moves toward more content driven services paying a nice $200 million for the stake with Jay Z and every artist-owners remain part owners of the company. By acquiring the stock, Sprint has made deal so that it’s 45 million retail customers would receive exclusive content and Sprint’s Chief Executive Marcelo Claure will join Tidal’s board.

Looks like another win for Hovito.
