Next up on J. Cole‘s To Do list? Receive co-producer credits on PBS. The multi-faceted rapper has lent his talents as a co-producer for PBS’ new docuseries, “Raising Bertie.” The docuseries centers on three men from Bertie County, North Carolina. Director, Margaret Byrne, shared that the docuseries was meant to serve different purposes.
“In editing this story, there were competing pressures: to fight against stereotypes, to tell an exciting story, to tell a story of unexpected success, and to prove that a filmmaker can communicate an honest story about a culture that is not her own.”
Getting his hands in on this was important for Cole who is no stranger to this type of project. If you recall, he’s also worked on the “4 Your Eyez Only” documentary as well as the “Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming” special on HBO.
“Raising Bertie” will air on PBS on August 28. Check out the trailer video.
