On Tuesday July 10th, Atlanta’s Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced Atlanta’s partnership with The Fifth Annual The Basketball Tournament (TBT)– the $2 million, winner-take-all summer basketball event at Atlanta’s City Hall. The event will broadcast live on ESPN and this year is sponsored by PUMA. Atlanta will host its Super 16 round at Georgia State University Sports Arena July 26 – 29, 2018.
“This year’s tournament will be the most competitive in our five-year history,” said Jon Mugar, TBT Founder and CEO. “The City of Atlanta has been very supportive thus far and in return I’m confident we will deliver twelve of the most high level, intense and compelling basketball games in the world this summer to Georgia State starting July 26.”
After The Press Conference, Terrell Thomas spoke with TBT founder Jon Mugar on the Tournament coming to Atlanta and more. Jon Mugar spoke on teaming with Puma Basketball, why he choose Atlanta, having pro and NBA players play in The Basketball Tournament, what’s next for the league and more.
