Born continues the thrilling story he began weaving with last year’s massive hit, “Hot Topic,” with a cinematic new video for his latest heater, “Coolio,” centered on heartbreak and deception.
Just as the single itself is a major middle-finger to a former lover, the visuals for “Coolio” allow Born to drive that message home with help from director Starlyn Javier. As the narrative unfolds both musically and visually, you begin to get a better idea of what went wrong and why the emcee had to call off an apparent engagement.
In addition to boasting a gripping storyline, the video truly demonstrates Born’s capabilities as a leading man and solo act. To complement his talents as a songwriter, he is demonstrating some clear strengths in terms of his charisma and overall vision—two key elements he no doubt honed over the years as part of critically adored duo G.Dot & Born.
