At the heels of the Lifetime docuseries, “Surviving R Kelly,” Sony Music and R. Kelly have parted ways. Amidst the sex abuse scandal, Sony Music was met with protest at their New York City headquarters, as people gathered demanding they drop Kelly from the label. Despite a long-standing relationship, since Kelly’s signing to Sony in the early 1990’s, the two entities came to an agreement. After parting ways, R. Kelly’s back catalog will also remain with RCA/Sony. In the meantime, Kelly has been spotted releasing new music via SoundCloud – where his single “I Admit” has garnered nearly 700K plays.
