Back in April, Lecrae teased with the track of “Wheels Up” and he has finally released its visual. This song marks his first collaboration with California singer-songwriter Marc E. Bassy. “Wheels Up” is a song related to Lecrae’s gratitude in relation to his success as well as his recovery from troubled times.
In this particular video, Lecrae can be seen on a flight and he connotes the song title by “taking off.” He passionately raps about almost giving up hope and then moving back to relying on God:
“Lord God, please loosen up my grasp, I been brokenhearted, mind departed, stopped and started, lost my hope and lost my way. I let my lust done bring destruction, no discussion with the God who gave me grace. 5:46 in the morning, mind still turning, God had to bring me back.”
Just last month, Lecrae released his tenth studio LP Restoration via Reach Records. The project featured 14 tracks and portrayed appearances from YK Osiris, Marc E. Bassy, John Legend, Jozzy, Kirk Franklin, DaniLeigh, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Gwen Bunn. Lecrae is also all set to release his second book, I Am Restored: How I Lost My Religion, But Found My Faith on Oct. 13th.
