The Atlanta Hawks have two home games on their schedule before the 2020 NBA All-Star break with the first one taking place on Monday night.

Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks welcomed the Kemba Walker-less Boston Celtics to town. Boston came into Monday nights game on a three game winning streak and other Hawks came into the game looking to get back on the winning side of things.

As Trae Young gets set to start in his first NBA all-star game in a few weeks, it appears he is a man on a mission. Trae Young averaged over 30 points per night in the month of January, and tonight he continued to shine bright. In the first quarter, Trae Young showcased why he is an all-star. Young shot (6-7) from the field in the first quarter for 17 points.
The Hawk took a (34-28) lead into the second quarter.

Hawks sharpshooter Kevin Huerter picked up where Trae Young left off offensively in the second quarter. Huerter knocked down back to back three pointer early in the second helping to stretch the Hawks lead to (45-38) with 8:40 remaining in the first half.

The offensive showcased continued to close out the half. The Celtics were able to cut into the Hawks lead late in the second quarter and even managed to take the lead for a brief moment (54-52). Gordon Hayward hit a few shots to close the lead but a half court buzzer beater by John Collins helped Atlanta take a (62-60) lead into the half.

Trae Young scored 23 first half points for the Hawks. Gordon Hayward dropped 13 first half points for the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics started the third quarter with Jayson Tatum knocking down a three point basket to give Boston a (63-62) lead to begin the second half. The Celtics followed that up by going on a (7-0) run iwithn the first three minutes of the third.
Jayson Tatum proved to the crowd here at State Farm Arena just why he is an all-star in the third quarter. After finishing the first half with just 8 points, Tatum scored 15 points in the third and helped the Celtics take a (95-84) lead into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was one for the ages. The Celtics held a ten point lead with under six minutes to go in the game and something seemed to spark the Hawks at that point. Hawks sharpshooter Kevin Huerter heated up from beyond the three point line and it was a sight to see for Hawks fans.

Huerter’s shooting helped bring State Farm Arena back to life with under four minutes remaining as the Hawks trailed (110-107). Despite a big second half from Jeff Teague and Huerter’s shooting in the fourth, the Celtics just had too much fire power for Atlanta.

The Hawks were able to cut the Celtics lead to four points (117-113) with under a minute left but a layup by Celtics guard Grant Williams pretty much ended the Hawks hopes.

For Atlanta, Trae Young finished the game with 34 points and 7 assist. Trae has scored 30 or more points in 25 games this season. John Collins finished the night with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jeff Teague had his best game back with the Hawks. Teague finished the night with 18 points, 5 assist and 4 steals.

For the Boston Celtics, their all-star played big. Jayson Tatum finished the game tonight with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Gordon Hayward added 24 points and Jaylen Brown finished the night with 21 points.

The Hawks are off to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road on Wednesday night and the Boston Celtics on the road on Friday night before returning to State Farm Arena on Sunday to host the New York Knicks.
