ALMIGHTY KKD

•What first got you into music?

I was surrounded by music all my life. But definitely what got me started in music has to be my daughter. Around the time of her being born, were some trying times and I was able to use music to escape. In that sense it was like my therapy to be honest.

•Who inspired you to make music?

My Daughter and sister definitely inspired me to make music. One thing that I use to enjoy growing up was listening to my older sister sing and I always use to join in with her. My daughter really enjoys music and I wanted to be able to make something that she could enjoy that was coming from me.

• How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I would describe the music that I create as vibes. I don’t like being stuck to just one genre of music, I definitely go by how I’m feeling. Some days I’ll be in the studio just making straight r&b tracks, others days it will be some trap or drill, or if I’m really feeling good it will be some afrobeats.

• What is your creative process like?

My creative process is a very interesting one. Some days I’ll go look for a beat and form the melody off of just listening to it, or I’ll have some lyrics that I write down and look for the beat after. Generally I would try the lyrics on different beats to see where it fits best.

• Who would you most like to collaborate with?

If I had to choose a artist that I would like to collaborate with the most it would definitely be Rod Wave. I just feel like we would make some amazing tracks, when I get into that singing trap soul element I’ve often been compared to him a lot. Most importantly I’m already a big fan of his work.

• If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

If I could open a show for any artist it would be Lil Durk. His style of music is one of my favourite and who I like to compare my self to as well. I like the fact that you can’t just label him a rapper and he breaks every box that people try to put him in. I believe if I opened a show for him it would be an amazing experience for me and I could leave a good impression on his audience.

• What is one message you would give to your fans?

I would tell my fans to never give up and continue to work on whatever they are doing as just a hobby. I started off music as just a hobby but eventually after time I got good at it and when you can develop a following off of the hobby watch be able to change the rest of your life.

•What is the most useless talent you have?

I wouldn’t say I have any useless talents. Anything that I’ve been placed with has meaning to it. It might just be under development and or I haven’t found purpose for it yet.

• Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

Yes I do enjoy singing in the shower actually. It’s very enjoyable and the songs that I would be singing are usually myself or my Brother Yunoshy’s songs.

• What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

I haven’t been able to rely on music to fund my life as of yet. Right now I work at the airport as a admin for Covid-19 testing. I was also in school for construction engineering, I definitely have ambitions and goals outside of music but I would really like to blow up off of the music.

• Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

I’ve been able too do 2 shows so far and I was really excited for them. My first show was a artist showcase that I was invited to do back in January 2020 in Ottawa Ontario Canada. It was definitely a fun experience and really helped me fight off being nervous. My second show was a quick performance with my brother a Afrobeats artist by the name of BeatzbyEman and our friend Tyanna.j we have a track together called Slow motion and we were able to perform it at the venue that night it was sold out and packed and we did good. I haven’t had and bad experiences which I glad about and hope to continue this. As of right now no upcoming shows but I’m definitely interested and ready to do some.

•How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

The internet is now the front leader of the music business. I believe it’s next to impossible to be in the industry and not be on social media. It’s the easiest and fastest way to connect to people all over the world and streaming services are the front leaders of how music is being listened too now a days.

•What is your favourite song to perform?

My favourite song to perform would have to be Gunna & Baby a new track that me and my brother Yunoshy are both on. In the song we go back and forth from chorus to verse, the melody, lyrics and delivery for that is on a different level and I believe it’s a must listen for any hip-hop and more specifically ysl Gunna/lil baby listeners.

•Which famous musicians do you admire?

So of the famous musicians I admire are Lil Durk, Rod Wave, Polo G and many more. I definitely love the vibe and melodies that these guys are able to deliver. Any time I’m in a bad mood and I play any of these guys I’m instantly happy again.

•What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Next question

• What is the best advice you’ve been given?

The best advice that I was ever given was to always have back up plans. Of course you always want to make sure what your investing money and your plans too will help you become successful but you always gotta plan for the what if’s. It might take a year for some people to blow off music others it might be 6 years but always prepare for the what if’s.

•If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Me being from Toronto Canada, I wish that there was a bigger spot light over here, obviously now we are starting to make more head way in the scene but we still have a lot more hidden gems over here that need to be recognized.

•What’s next for you?

Next is find a proper following I’m still pretty young and have a small following. My goal is to get recognized in my city, the group that I’m with called Almighty Records is full of hungry and talented young individuals who are ready to broadcast their talents on a Global stand point.
