Miami born and raised MC’s Pouya and Denzel Curry have been killing shit in the South for years now, but haven’t collabed on a record since 2015’s Spice Girls from Pouya’s South Side Slugs mixtape. Today, Pouya’s enlisted Denzel for a sinister new single titled “Wig Split,” which puts each of their rapidfire, aggressive flows right in your face. The beat is filled with buzzing synths and a droning, subsonic bass, so with Pouya headed out on tour soon, this is tailor-made for mosh pits alongside the catalogue of headbangers he’s already put together. This is the latest single from Pouya’s upcoming album, Blood Was Never Thick As Water.
On October 22nd, Pouya will be releasing his fourth studio album, Blood Was Never Thick As Water (pre-save here). The album’s title speaks for itself, as Pouya celebrates a chosen family of artists and friends who have appreciated his idiosyncrasies and creativity in a way that his birth family never could. The eleven-track effort is home to recent single releases such as “Leave Me Alone” and the smooth and cool “Walk In” featuring fellow Floridian, Lu Baby.
