A star on the rise, DJ Pearson, 30, is a tattoo artist immortalizing his legacy one line at a time. Hailing from Chicago but currently residing in Denver and has left an undeniable popularity everywhere in between with his refreshing style. Like his unique technique, Pearson’s journey is just as unique.
Beginning his career at 14 after discovering his passion for art, he became a professional at 22 and earned an apprenticeship in Denver. As a teen, Pearson used his mother’s home as his place of business, tattooing friends to earn money. During his apprenticeship, Pearson slept in his car. Through the hardships, he quickly rose up the industry ladder and credited superstar artists like Aries Rhysing and Jayce Wallingford as inspirations.
In Florida’s Bobby Ellis-owned Victory Tattoo, Pearson educated himself on traditional tattooing. DJ’s style is Middle Eastern cultural-inspired geometric design, with a witch-like, gothic-inspired twist. A technique specialized in a unique approach to blackwork tattooing. A geometric tattoo deals with several lines or geometric shapes that come together to form an even bigger shape. Geometric tattoos can come in the form of leaves, lines, stars, and a host of other patterns. Most often, tattoo artists use black ink to create these types of tattoos.
Creating endless possibilities, DJ notoriety has ascended to worldwide appeal. It’s only a matter of time before Pearson and his style achieve high demand in television and film. Leaving a legacy that will be mentioned alongside the greatest names the culture has ever produced. For Tattoo artists, their work of art doesn’t just measure the talent but tells a story based upon the artist’s creativity, technique and journey. Now, literally craving out his own legacy, Pearson is an artist-to-watch in 2021.
