The sultry sounds of Snoh Aalegra can never be off-limits whenever you hear them (or don’t hear them). Since her arrival in Los Angeles in 2014 with her debut EP There Will Be Sunshine, she has been delivering flawlessly. She falls in a lane of her own when she floats over those calm, relaxing beats and is certainly a great addition to R&B. Snoh Aalegra’s third studio album Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies arrived at the perfect time to enjoy summer cookouts, the beach, and rides around the city in the city.
She released it as a follow up to her 2019 LP Ugh, Those Feels Again, which included songs such as “I Want You Around,” “Find Someone Like You,” and “Whoa.” The album charted at number 73 on the Billboard 200, which puts Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies in good position to surpass this type of accomplishment, since Snoh has only developed as a musician more throughout the past two years.
It may surprise you to learn that the 33-year-old singer was mentored by the late Prince, something that has undoubtedly played a huge role in her successes as a singer and artist. Her experience of being mentored by him was very crazy, she told BET last year. In addition to phoning me occasionally, he sent me emails with links to things he believed I should study, artists he loved, or certain performances, which I just tried to absorb. Since he is no longer physically present among us, I would just like to make him proud. It feels hollow not to have him around when I perform and I miss him terribly.”
