It’s official, Pusha T is back. The singer releases his new single, “Diet Coke,” today (Feb. 8). The song was first teased in the run up to Paris Fashion Week and on social media. This hard-hitting cut features 88-Keys and Kanye West, showing the Virginia rapper at his best with his lyrical prowess over his competitors and his drug dealing past:
As part of the track, Pusha and Ye are featured in a beautifully minimalistic, colorful visual in which they are dressed in all-black and dancing in a room with all-white walls. Like many of Pusha’s past clips, this clip is simple and to the point, focusing on the subject matter and lyrics of the song.
The last time Pusha released a solo album was four years ago. Daytona was the first in a series of weekly releases from Ye and the G.O.O.D. Music camp. Aside from the vocal appearance by the noted Chicago legend, the album also featured Rick Ross’ assistance on the track “Hard Piano.” The album debuted among the top three on the Billboard 200 in its first week of release, with 77,000 equivalent album sales. The closing track “Infrared” propelled Pusha’s feud with Drake to new heights, spawning back-and-forth diss track after back-and-forth diss track.
