Last night, Coast Contra made their late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing their song “Legacy” and their viral “Never Freestyle”—available now on all major streaming platforms. Initially released through the group’s reoccurring freestyle video segment on their YouTube channel, “Never Freestyle” quickly racked up millions of views on both YouTube & Tik Tok before catching serious co-signs from legends including Questlove, LL Cool J, Timbaland, Lena Waithe, Talib Kweli, Juelz Santana, Swizz Beatz, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kelly Rowland, Kevin Hart, Alchemist, JID and more. Coast Contra capitalized on this hype with the release of their debut album Apt. 505 in March. The group’s momentum continued in May when, after hearing the “Never Freestyle”, Dave Chappelle personally asked Coast Contra to open for his performance at the Hollywood Bowl. After performing the freestyle that kicked it all off on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing at a sold-out NYC show at Baby’s Alright, and releasing “Never Freestyle” on all major streaming platforms, Coast Contra is going on to perform yet another sold-out show in LA at the Echo on Wednesday, June 22nd.
